Best Magic Venues in Los Angeles, CA

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to perform at all three of these incredible venues, each offering a completely different kind of magic experience.

For nearly 20 years, The Magic Castle has been a second home to me — a place that continually challenges and inspires performers at the highest level. Black Rabbit Rose brings a younger, high-energy nightlife atmosphere where magic feels modern, immersive, and unpredictable, while Illusion Magic Lounge captures a more intimate and welcoming spirit that reminds audiences how personal live magic can be. Each venue represents a different side of Los Angeles magic culture, and I genuinely love working in all of them for completely different reasons.

The Magic Castle

Price: $$$$
Days of Operation: Dinner service nightly, Monday–Sunday. Weekend Family brunch on Saturday & Sunday.
Dress Code: Formal, cocktail, or black tie. This is one of the rare places in Los Angeles where you truly cannot be overdressed.

There is no venue in Los Angeles more iconic to the art of magic than The Magic Castle. Hidden behind an unassuming Victorian mansion in Hollywood, the private clubhouse of the Academy of Magical Arts has become a pilgrimage site for magicians and magic fans from around the world. The experience feels less like attending a show and more like stepping into a secret society devoted entirely to mystery.

The Castle is made up of several intimate theaters, each with its own personality and style of performance. The Close-Up Gallery is legendary for sleight-of-hand magic performed just inches from the audience. The Parlour of Prestidigitation offers a more elegant, classical parlor experience with storytelling and theatrical presentations (perfect for Mentalists!). The Palace of Mystery hosts larger stage illusions and headline acts, while smaller hidden rooms throughout the mansion feature impromptu performances, piano music, and surprise encounters that make the entire building feel alive.

One of my favorite things about performing at The Magic Castle is that every room demands a different relationship with the audience. It sharpens your instincts as a performer. The intimacy of close-up magic there is unlike anywhere else in the city, and the audience arrives genuinely ready to believe in impossible things.

Access to The Magic Castle is intentionally exclusive. You must either be invited by a member or attend as the guest of a magician. However, there is a well-known workaround: guests staying at the neighboring Magic Castle Hotel can often request dinner reservations and guest access to the club during their stay. Reservations are still required, but it remains one of the best ways for visitors to experience the Castle properly.

Black Rabbit Rose

Price: $$
Days of Operation: “The Magic Hour” show is open Thursday–Saturday evenings; closed Sundays.
Dress Code: Casual to fashionable nightlife attire. Streetwear is perfectly acceptable here.

Black Rabbit Rose feels like what would happen if an underground magic club collided with a modern Hollywood cocktail lounge. Tucked just off Hollywood Boulevard, the venue combines craft cocktails, live magic, music, and immersive nightlife into one of the most energetic magic spaces in Los Angeles.

The Magic Hour show is headlined by magicians’ Fitz and Asia, two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. I have had the honor to join Fitz and Asia many times onstage, and every time feels like a blast. THis place truly makes me fall in love with Magic all over again. The beauty of this show, is that there is a rotating performer each week, so even if you’ve been before, the next time you’ll see a new act in the show! Early in the evening, the front cocktail space is open to the general public, where guests can experience roaming magicians, surprise performances, and a highly theatrical bar environment. Later in the night, guests move into the hidden theater for a more structured ticketed performance featuring multiple acts and rotating performers.

No matter where in the world I perform, Black Rabbit Rose remains one of my favorite venues to work in Los Angeles. The audiences are young, stylish, and highly engaged, which creates an electric energy in the room. I especially love how intimate the performance space feels — you can create moments that are cinematic one second and deeply personal the next. It’s one of the few places in LA where magic genuinely feels woven into the nightlife culture instead of separated from it.

For visitors looking for a less formal and more modern entry point into the LA magic scene, Black Rabbit Rose is a must.

Illusion Magic Lounge

Price: $$
Days of Operation: Thursday–Saturday evenings.
Dress Code: Cocktail attire encouraged, though the venue is generally flexible and welcoming.

Located in Santa Monica just steps from the Third Street Promenade, Illusion Magic Lounge offers a more relaxed and community-driven magic experience while still maintaining a polished theatrical atmosphere. The venue combines a traditional magic lounge with elements of cabaret, variety theater, and nightlife entertainment.

Whether on the main stage, or performing strolling entertainment, I have shared some incredible moment at Illusion Magic Lounge. The Sinnott’s have built one of the best Magic theaters on the west coast, and to perform for them fills me heart with gratitude. The theater itself is intimate and adaptable, allowing the stage to feature either a single headline performer or a rotating lineup of magicians and specialty acts. Depending on the evening, you may encounter close-up magic at the bar, formal stage performances, comedy magic, or even burlesque and variety productions mixed into the programming. That flexibility gives the venue a refreshing unpredictability that keeps regulars coming back.

One thing I particularly appreciate about Illusion Magic Lounge is how approachable it is. Unlike some of the more exclusive venues in Los Angeles, this space feels welcoming to both hardcore magic fans and casual audiences discovering live magic for the first time. The venue is family-friendly during many performances, while still offering later-night programming that leans more theatrical and adult-oriented.

The combination of strolling magic, stage performances, cocktails, and close-up experiences makes it feel like a complete evening rather than just a single show. It’s a wonderful reminder that magic works best when audiences feel included in the experience instead of simply watching from a distance.

These are some of my favorite venues in Los Angeles, CA. There are many places to see magic around the world.
