Inside Spellbound: Bringing The Magic Castle Experience to Princess Cruises

There are very few places in the world where mystery still feels alive. Dimly lit hallways. Secret entrances. Strange artifacts tucked into shadowy corners. A piano playing on its own while guests sip handcrafted cocktails dressed for an elegant evening of impossible entertainment. For decades, The Magic Castle has been one of those places. Now, somewhere in the middle of the ocean aboard select Princess Cruises ships, that same feeling exists again inside an immersive experience known as Spellbound. And I had the incredible privilege of helping bring it to life.

What Is Spellbound on Princess Cruises?

Spellbound is an exclusive magic and mentalism experience currently featured aboard the Sun Princess and Star Princess ships. Created in partnership with The Magic Castle, the venue combines interactive theater, close up magic, craft cocktails, storytelling, and live performance into one unforgettable evening.

Unlike a traditional cruise ship show, Spellbound is designed to feel immersive from the very beginning. Guests do not simply walk through a theater door and take a seat. The experience begins long before the show itself.

Like The Magic Castle in Hollywood, guests enter through a hidden entrance, stepping away from the bustle of the ship and into a world built entirely around mystery and illusion. Inside, the atmosphere immediately changes. The lighting softens. The music drifts through the room. Magic memorabilia lines the walls. Guests gather around the bar while performers move impossibly close, creating moments that feel intimate, personal, and genuinely unexplainable.

The venue even has its own resident ghostly piano player named Isabella, a loving nod to Irma, the famous piano at The Magic Castle.

Of course, Spellbound also adds its own personality to the experience. Guests can enjoy specialty cocktails created exclusively for the venue, take photos inside the space, and experience multiple styles of performance throughout the evening including bar magic, close up magic, and full theater presentations.

The result feels less like attending a cruise ship show and more like discovering a hidden world at sea.

Becoming an Inaugural Performer for Spellbound

When Princess Cruises first launched Spellbound aboard Sun Princess and Star Princess, I was honored to be brought in as one of the inaugural performers helping develop the entertainment experience for both ships. That opportunity meant a tremendous amount to me, particularly because of the relationship between Spellbound and The Magic Castle itself. Not every magician or mentalist can perform in this venue.

Spellbound exclusively features performers associated with or approved by The Magic Castle, ensuring the entertainment inside the experience maintains the same level of quality, professionalism, and mystery audiences expect from the legendary Hollywood institution.

Having now performed at The Magic Castle for over 20 years, I was incredibly grateful to be trusted with helping shape this new extension of the brand aboard Princess Cruises. My work as a luxury cruise line entertainer, combined with years of experience performing mentalism for sophisticated audiences around the world, made Spellbound a perfect creative fit.

Throughout my time onboard, I performed both intimate bar magic and full theater presentations, bringing interactive mentalism into a venue specifically designed for astonishment. One moment I would be reading the thoughts of guests seated inches away at the bar. The next, I would step into the theater to perform for an audience gathered inside one of the most unique entertainment spaces currently operating at sea.

I was also featured as one of the faces of the Spellbound experience inside Princess Cruises terminals, helping introduce future guests to the mystery, atmosphere, and world of the venue before they ever stepped aboard the ship.

Why Spellbound Feels Different

One of the reasons Spellbound has connected so strongly with audiences is because it understands something many modern entertainment experiences forget: People want to feel something.

The experience is not built around giant props or flashy spectacle. It is built around atmosphere, storytelling, interaction, and human connection. Guests are not passive observers. They become part of the mystery itself. That philosophy closely mirrors my own approach to mentalism.

Whether I am performing at a luxury cruise venue, a private club, a corporate event, or inside The Magic Castle itself, my focus has always remained the same: create experiences that feel impossible, personal, and unforgettable. The best magical entertainment does more than fool people. It creates conversation. It creates emotional connection. It gives audiences a story they carry with them long after the evening ends. Spellbound captures that beautifully.

The Future of Luxury Magic Entertainment

Watching audiences discover Spellbound for the first time has been incredibly exciting because it represents something larger happening within live entertainment. Audiences today are increasingly searching for immersive experiences rather than passive performances. They want exclusivity. Atmosphere. Interaction. Storytelling. They want to feel like they discovered something hidden. That is exactly why venues like Spellbound resonate so deeply.

As a mentalism performer based in Los Angeles and traveling internationally for luxury events and entertainment experiences, projects like this are especially meaningful to me. They represent the future of modern magic entertainment and the growing desire for sophisticated, audience driven performances that feel elevated and unforgettable.

And somewhere out at sea, behind a secret entrance tucked inside a Princess cruise ship, that future is already happening.
